Before reading chapter 6 I had previous knowledge as to how to find a reliable source. However, I have never thought about the people around me as sources. I didn't realize how beneficial those around me can be when I need information/experience for my research paper. I also have never thought to look into who the author of my sources actually are and their qualifications. I usually just see .org or .edu at the end of a website and assume that everyone is just credible. This will be very beneficial because if they have a lot of experience with one's topic it can lead you to other papers they are written and give you more information. I have never thought of evaluating my sources in terms of what genre they are writing to and if the author uses sources. This can also help me figure out if the source is reliable and therefore the author credible.

I agree with you about not considering that the people around you can be utilized as sources! When writing this upcoming research paper I will be sure to talk to others in the field to get a better understanding of my topic.
