Chapter 10

Julie Thayer
Before reading chapter 10 I never knew that a multigenre project is a collection of three or more genre compositions. I have never thought of this project as a way to experiment and practice different rhetorical situations. During a multigenre project, you have many goals, for example, to persuade, narrate, or even inform. This makes it very easy to use different genre compositions to ensure you can meet your goals.  These multigenre projects are to create a conversation about one topic. I never thought to use each genre I'm using to contain different rhetorical appeals. The modes and mediums one chooses to present each genre are also important. I didn't truly realize the importance choosing the right medium is. I also didn't know that many of the most successful projects contain textual, visual, and audio compositions. Before reading chapter 10 I didn't notice how important a good title is to ones project, I will definitely spend more time on my title for project 3 than I have on previous projects.

  1. I agree with you that this chapter taught me a lot of things that I had never even thought about before. It taught me how important certain things actually are that I used to dismiss and what actually comprises a well done multimedia project.

  2. I also didn't recognize the importance of choosing the right medium before creating a multi-genre project. I believe that this chapter definitely helps us with better understanding project 3.

  3. I also did not know previous to reading this chapter that a multi genre project consist of at least three or more different genre compositions. I agree that project three may take a bit more time than the previous project because of all it's various components.

Action Plan

For my action plan I will add more pictures to my website and continue to expand on my topic. I also plan to make posters to place around campus to reach outside audiences and use that as my nondigital source. I will continue to work over the weekend to finish the project and best carry out my message on my website.

1) In project two I first did a lot of research to gather ideas and topics that I wanted to include in my essay. Then I went through and proofed it while adding citations and formatting everything. I did ended up doing three drafts rather than two. Project one was a little easier to write in my opinion because it was based off of our observations rather than facts and statistics. 2) I liked taking my first draft and transforming it into a final draft. This is where I organized all my thoughts and made the paper flow nicely. Once I have all my ideas out on the paper I can easily reorganize, cut and add new things. 3) I enjoyed project one more. I think it was lighter in the sense that it was more fun to write about. I liked exploring the different kinds of social adaptions in the films while also comparing time eras.
Jamica Williams What are some subversion examples the author mentions? A few books the the author mentions It's just a plant, Heather has two Mommies, and Gloria Goes Gay Can you think of other 2 books or movies that are subversion? Scary movie 1 and 2 Why are they subversion? Scary movie is subversive because it takes into account the the rhetorical factors in most scary movies and joke on them. Its more of a comedy than a "scary" movie. Each of the characters do exactly whats expected. They run the opposite way like up the stairs, trip and fall multiple times, and even live with the ghost that is haunting them. What do you think "GO THE FUCK TO SLEEP?" Who should be the target audience for this book? The audience of this book is any adult/parent. Because its probably R-Rated its targeted to older people, and anyone can find this humorous.
