Chapter 7 taught me a lot about how to cite sources and properly use sources in my writing which will help with my research paper. This chapter explained the difference between quoting, paraphrasing, and summarizing. It is important to either cite the source or mention the name of the author even when summarizing. Before when I would summarize, I did not include the name of the author, but now I know it is vital to. Also, when you are changing a part of a quote to make it fit properly in your paper, you must use brackets around the changed areas. The chapter also taught me when quotes should be introduced, and should not be used without any important purpose. Also, when paraphrasing you have to write it in your own words and do not copy word for word what the author has said. Giving credit to the source used must happen in order to avoid plagiarism. This chapter gave me a lot of advice and things to think about while writing my research paper.
