Being required to complete various research papers throughout middle and high school, the concept of primary, secondary, and tertiary sources are very familiar to me. However, I never actually thought about what I'm truly looking for in these sources. For example, the who wrote it, why, and for whom. I learned that it is important to evaluate their purpose, audience, as well as their rhetorical appeals in order to uncover any biases and to decide if I am the primary audience. In addition, I will use these tips to help me connect the genre of the source to it's purpose so that I can decide what is beneficial and what is not worthy of my time.
