Having already studied the importance of considering the rhetorical situation when writing/ creating a piece of work intended for an audience, I found it easy to understand the authors purpose. Although I know that everything has somewhat of its own genre, I did not think about how much every thing is usually made for a specific reason. For example, the author mentioned how in mid evil times books that were read in front of an audience usually had large texts and were heavier due to the fact that they were read off a podium. I found this reading very useful because it allowed me to delve deep into different genres and look beyond the surface.
