In the
article “Annoying Ways,” Kyle D. Stedman compares writers with bad drivers.
Readers get irritated when writers cite incorrectly just as a driver in the
fast lane may get behind a slow driver. This article focuses on the importance
of quotes including their placement as well as their structure. The author’s
relatable comparison made this an easy, entertaining read. I learned about the appropriate
time to use quotes and how to structure them. The flow and placement of the quote
is critical to the reader’s appeal. When used improperly, quotes can stand out
negatively and make for an awkward sentence. Instead of looking for quotes for
the sake of including them in your paper it’s important to make sure they’re
relevant and flow nicely into your essay.
