Ayhan in this study explores the suicide risks of prisoners over the course of a year, specifically using those located in the French Guiana where suicide risk factors and general had never been explored. This territory was selected because "French inmates commit suicide 6 times more often thane men in the general population" (1). In order to evaluate the patients, newly processed inmates take a Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI) in which several questions are asked to determine the individuals mental state and risk of suicide. 785 prisoners took the evaluation, with a majority being males. Ayhan's results show that 14.3% of those 785 prisoners were depressed or showed signs of depression, and 5.4Z% were at risk for committing suicide. Ayhan concludes that the hypothesis was not reported, stating that "characteristics, which we had intuitively predicted to affect suicidal risk, such as profession, early loss of relatives, family status, separation of parents in childhood, were not associated with suicidal risk" (8). Ayhan's results did show a correlation between victims of sexual abuse during their childhood and their risks of suicide, highlighting that the connection was especially prevalent in men.
Be sure to include the thesis. The summary, conclusion, and citations look great!
