Ayhan, Gulen, et al. “Suicide
Risks Among Prisoners in French Guiana: Prevalence and Prediction Factors.” BMC Psychiatry, vol. 17, no.1,
2017, DOI 10.1186/s12888-017-1320-4.
Suicide risk amongst prisoners directly relates to mental and
physical health. To better understand the risk factors, Gülen Ayhan
conducted a study to examine the correlation between French Guianan inmates
and the Mainland French inmates. MINI (mini international neuropsychiatric
interview) is the survey that Ayhan used to conduct his study. Questions in the
survey touched on past experiences, suicidal thoughts, and potential suicidal
plans. Ayhan found that risk factors included depression, dysthymia, panic
disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, childhood abuse, and sexual assault. Out
of 785 registered inmates, 13-14% had medium to high risks and 42% had low
risks. If all prisons use the MINI survey, Ayhan believes that suicides in
prison could be prevented and decreased.
The Annotated Bibliography you created was really good. It didn't summarized the article but it gave a glimpse of what to expect. I think the bibliography was in the correct order. You could have added the page numbers at the end of the each of the sentences
