Chapter 7 gave me a lot of insight on how to cite correctly, when to use quotes. paraphrase, and summarize. The examples given in the book were helpful because sometimes I still get confused on how to do in text citations. The chapter talked about when it is appropriate to paraphrase a source. It emphasized to make sure students use their own words when paraphrasing, and to still cite in either MLA or APA style. It says to paraphrase when you do not want to use a direct quote from the author, and when your audience is a lot different then the sources audience. Contrastingly, summarizing is the summary of the entire source as a whole. Before reading this chapter, I did not realize there was such a difference between paraphrasing and summarizing. The chapter also gives examples on how to cite just when writing a rough draft, which is relevant as we begin writing the first rough draft to project 2. Overall, the chapter was informative on how and when to correctly cite. Also was informative on when to quote the author, summarize, or paraphrase the source.
Jacqueline Kulle The peer review helped me a lot for my action plan and gave me more ideas and insight on what I should do. I was struggling with what I should do for my subversion, and I got the idea to do a meme or a comic strip. I have to finish and touch up my website, finish my nondigital picture, finish my comic strip, and get more participants for my survey. The peer review was beneficial and now I have a much clear idea on how I should do this project.
I agree, that the chapter gave a good explanation about citing your sources and showed different ways to do so.
