When writing research reports to support an argument, it is important to back up your argument with credible and reliable resources. When we want a question to be answered, we typically turn to Google and use Wikipedia or Yahoo Answers. However, you do not know who wrote the answers to the question or topic and you do not know if these answers are completely accurate. It is important to use sources written by experts in that particular field of research. For example, my research paper is about how different societies influence the diagnosis and treatment of psychopathy. This research is strictly psychology, and I would have to use resources such as databases that hold psychological journals and articles written and peer reviewed by psychologists and psychiatrists. Therefore, I can be sure that the information I obtain is credible. Other forms of reliable sources may be primary sources, as this information is direct, however it is important to always examine possible biases. These can be prevalent in secondary sources, such as newspapers, and sometimes even published articles. By using peer reviewed sources it eliminates most traces of a bias.

I agree that the credibility of the source is most important, and having credible sources also makes it easier to write.
