Alison McGrath
ENC 2135
The reading, BBG pgs 261-276, introduces the idea of doing research prior to choosing the subject, that way you choose a topic you can write a lot about. I have optimized on the chance to talk to people about the subject of my first draft, as to get helpful feedback, as well as learn new things about my subject. This has been rather useful in the writing process. After planning my paper, the next step is to figure out who is saying what in my writing. The author suggests that I focus on finding the facts I still need for my paper, to back up my arguments. At this point it is important that I focus on knowing who opposes the topic, staying in my comfort zone, and paying attention to subtopics. One of the last things this chapter covers is committing to your topic. At this point in my draft I believe I have committed to my topic, and have done some research to support my ideas. I am confident in the topic I've chosen. The last thing I need to do, like the chapter suggests, is form a working research question.
