The objective of this study is to "evaluate the prevalence of suicidal risk and its predictive factors in the correctional population of French Guiana." This cross-sectional study occured over a years time and only evaluated the new prisoners within the studied September 2013- December 2014 time frame. The subjects went through mulitple evaluations to ultimately answer specific questions which evaluate the inmates suicadal risk. This study revealed that out of the 707 inmates evaluated, 13.2% (93) had a suicidal risk. 13 of these 93 inmante had a high risk, 14 had a moderate risk, and 39 had a low risk of suicide.
